AUGMENTED AMERICAN REGISTRATION PASSES President Obama signs Augmented American Registration Act into law
In a shocking turn of events, after the lukewarm reception of the legislation by both houses of Congress, President Obama signed the Augmented-American Registration Act into law on Saturday, punctuating a six-year long debate on the nature of civil rights in America. In the presidential address following the historical moment, the President cited concerns for both national security and the health and welfare of American citizens as crucial in his decision.
Reception of the bill has been mixed both nationally, as well as within the city of Chicago. Joseph McGregor, local Director of the Council, an Augmented-American rights group, had this to say: ""The passing of the Registration is a disappointment to the Council. Our members and supporters have done nothing but promote peace between the augmented and everyone else. Forcing the Augmented to reveal themselves sets us back to a more primitive time as a whole. Next, they will be suggesting internment camps. We are going to do everything in our power to have this overturned."(Continued on A4)

The Chicago Police Department can breathe easier thanks to the capture of Nathaniel Ronson, suspected of over ten Chicagoland homicides in the last year. Ronson, a vocal 'human rights' lobbyist and excommunicated Catholic Deacon, has admitted culpability for a number of the murders, citing the 'abomination' of the victims' augmented status. Simon Price, Augmented Chicagoan and Ronson's only surviving victim, is credited with the tip, along with another unnamed Chicago native. (More on A9)

OOC Note;
• The Registration act is as follows: By July 1st, it is mandatory that any and all Augmented individuals in the country, citizen or foreign national, are to be registered with their government or embassy, who will report the results to the US government when necessary. A government issued identification card will be received, which should be on their person at all times.
Police and any officials have the right to ask to see said identification card at any given time if they are under the impression they are dealing with an Augmented individual. Any person(s) caught using an augmentation and unable to produce the proper identification will be arrested immediately and held for an indeterminate amount of time (publicly explained as 'detainment while under investigation into the health/status of the individual', and said to be limited to 72 hours-- the necessary amount of time for a blood test to be reviewed by the OAH).
